Visitor Information
Summer 2024 update
Southsea lifeguards
The RNLI Lifeguards will be serving Southsea beaches from 29 June to 1 September 2024. There will be one kiosk opposte Canoe Lake (adjacent to Southsea Beach Cafe) and another adjacent to Coffee Cup and St George's Road Junction. Both will be in operation seven days a week, between 10am and 6pm.
As well as this, local volunteer lifeguards will be operating from a temporary unit just east of South Parade Pier. Staff numbers permitting they will be in place on Thursday evenings and all weekend.
Please note there will be no kiosk at Speakers Corner for 2024 due to advice against bathing in the area and ongoing construction works.
Barbecue Zones
Please remember there are designated barbecue zones on Southsea Common. This is to ensure visitors and residents have plenty of safe areas to BBQ outside, whilst also ensuring they are kept away from properties and in areas where they can be safely disposed.
There are many barbecue zones that collectively span a large area, so if the first one you visit is busy please try others. A map of BBQ zones is below, or see the PDF leaflet for further information.
