From beginners to improvers and competitive players, Southsea Tennis Club offers something for everyone. The only tennis club in Southsea, it is superbly located at Castle Courts on Southsea Common, close to the seafront and opposite The D-Day Story.

There are a range of memberships to suit different needs, with reduced prices available to certain groups. Of course, non-members are very welcome to use the courts too, on an hourly Pay and Play basis. Courts can be booked online.

Play on one of six macadam hard courts, three of which are floodlit for night play. Members have access to four astro turf courts, two of which are floodlit.

There is an on-site cafe open to members and non-members alike, run by Watkins & Faux.

Membership

The membership year runs from 1st April to 31st March.

Members enjoy the following benefits:

A full social and tennis programme for the year.
Free use of the Castle hard courts at Clarence Esplanade throughout the year.
Free members’ social mix-in sessions during the week (Monday and Thursday afternoons, Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings). Please note, times may vary so contact tthe club for up to date details.
Use of floodlit courts in the winter (September to March) for a small charge.
Entry into annual draw for the chance to buy a pair of Wimbledon tickets (you must also be a British Tennis member).
Opportunities to play for the club teams.
Members’ discount and special offers in The Pavilion Café.

2020/21 Membership fees:

Adult: £130
Family (2 adults and up to 3 children, same household): £180
1 parent and 1 child: £130
Senior citizen (65+): £110
Student  (18+ in full-time education): £30
Juniors (under 18): £30
Mini Tennis (4 – 10): No charge

Membership offers great value for money if you like to play regularly. If you played even once a week, membership could save you around £150 a year on the Pay and Play price.

Club teams

The club has men's, ladies' and mixed teams in the Portsmouth District summer and winter leagues. Team training takes place on Sunday from 10am until 12pm and on Wednesday from 6pm until 8pm.

As a Pay and Play facility, non-members are welcome to play at Castle Courts. Book online at the website.
