Not only are there coastal views for miles on end, the city’s flat profile makes it ideal for cycling – for all ages and abilities. The first port of call for many is the cycle route that runs the length of Southsea Promenade, offering views of the beach, Solent, piers and loads more along the way.

That’s far from all there is to enjoy by bike in Portsmouth, though. There are designated routes across the city (and beyond), including a number of safer options that take in wider or quieter roads for those not quite so confident on their bikes.
