You needn't worry about going off-grid when you come to Portsmouth. In addition to good 5G and 4G connectivity, there are many free WiFi hotspots available to use across the city.
Gunwharf Quays offers WiFi connectivity through The Cloud. This does require you to sign up for an account, but if you have one already you can set it to connect automatically whenever you're in range - meaning you don't have to log in each time.
With the shops and car park all around, some corners of Cascades Shopping Centre are black holes for network connectivity. Thankfully, there's a free WiFi service to ensure you don't miss a single notification. Look out for Cascades_Free_WiFi to sign in and browse away.
By taking the Park and Ride service into the city centre, you're not only making an easier and greener journey, you can also get some free WiFi too! There's WiFi available at the terminal building and on board the buses themselves.
The above networks are, of course, just some of the WiFi networks available across the city. A number of pubs, bars, restaurants, shops and attractions will offer their own service - details of which can be found on their websites or in person during your visit.
However, if you're accessing any WiFi network outside of home it's wise to always exercise caution. Unsecured networks can be used by enterprising cyber criminals to steal your data, so only use reputable services and if you're ever unsure, don't risk it.
