Portsmouth is the perfect city for dogs and their owners. With miles of beautiful seafront and parks, as well as various open spaces dotted all over the city, you can enjoy everything that Portsmouth offers with man's best friend by your side.
This section gives you some ideas of what you can do with your furry friend whilst visiting Portsmouth. It's not a comprehensive list, so please get in touch with Portsmouth Visitor Information Centre if you need further details or have additional questions.
Queens Hotel - A grand hotel with newly renovated rooms overlooking Southsea Common.
Becketts Southsea - A Grade II-listed boutique hotel and restaurant where dogs are welcome to stay and dine.
Stattons Hotel - A luxurious, Edwardian boutique hotel situated just minutes from the seafront.
Langstone Quays Resort - Looking out over the harbour, the Langstone Quays is a great place for a spot of luxury.
Ibis Budget Portsmouth - A low-cost hotel situated in Fratton, just a short drive from the city centre.
Ibis Portsmouth - Located in the heart of the city centre next to Portsmouth and Southsea train station and the Guildhall.
Marriott Hotel Portsmouth - This four star hotel is the ultimate in Solent Chic.
Seacrest Hotel - The Seacrest Hotel enjoys a premier location on Portsmouth's seafront, commanding fine maritime views across the busy Solent waters.
Lakeside Apartments - Fully-furnished, self contained apartments with all that you require for short or long stays.
Solent Hotel & Spa and Lodge at Solent - Classic hotel and contemporary, coastal-themed retreats.
The Still & West - Relaxing country pub, overlooking the entrance to Portsmouth Harbour.
The Dolphin - This welcoming pub just opposite Portsmouth Anglican Cathedral lays claim to being the city's oldest.
Porters - A firm favourite among Southsea residents, Porters doesn't just offer good food and drink, but extends a welcome to four-legged friends as well.
The Wine Vaults - There aren't just an array of wines and ales on offer at the Vaults, you can also frequently see a good variety of pooches there as well.
The Eastney Tavern - Dogs are welcome in certain areas of the Eastney Tavern.
The Florence Arms - This well decked out pub is as welcoming of dogs as it is punters.
The Deco - Though this rock and metal pub might get rowdy by night, dogs are allowed in during the quieter daytime hours.
Southsea Coffee Co. - Not only a bastion of Southsea's independent cafe culture, Southsea Coffee Co. is also welcoming of man's best friend.
You'll also find loads of cafes and restaurants along the water's front with ample outdoor seating areas, making it perfect to enjoy a bite or a coffee overlooking the water.
Portsmouth Harbour Tours - Small dogs on a lead can join you on a guided boat trip around Portsmouth Harbour, giving fantastic views of local historical sights and of the working dockyard. (Only available from Gunwharf Quays).
Gunwharf Quays - 95 designer outlets and a wide choice of 30 cosmopolitan restaurants, bars and cafés.
Southsea Model Village - Set inside the grounds of a Victorian fort, with a large scale electric garden railway, toy museum and more.
Wyevale Garden Centre - Dogs are welcome anywhere around the Havant Wyevale Garden Centre, except for the restaurant.

Dogs are welcome on the beaches in Southsea during winter months (October to April). Additionally, there's year-round access available to the east of the Coffee Cup at Eastney (which has been extended from its previous point of the Yomper statue).
There's also an enclosed dog training area on Southsea Common. Located between Pembroke Park and Pier Road, the area provides a safe space for young or nervous dogs that would otherwise not be able to be allowed off the lead in open areas or near roads. The area is 1,600sqm and enclosed by 1.2m railings. It's accessed by two gated entry points and has waste bins available.
