Microbreweries

Portsmouth is a creative, independent and fun city – and nowhere is this more evident than in its microbrewing and distilling community. Portsea Island is home to a number of microbreweries and distilleries, creating everything from gin made with botanicals found at the Mary Rose wreck site, to super-modern craft beer using all manner of ingredients and techniques.

It’s not just about tasting the products, but seeing how they’re made – with behind-the-scenes tours available so you can see exactly what goes into creating these great drinks. Even those which don’t offer tours still have taprooms, so you can sample a range of their beers (plus a few guest ales brought in for good measure) on site. There’s no fresher than that!
