Meet Sarah!
Sarah Liscoe is a seasoned sailmaker with over 35 years of experience. Starting her career as a young instructor, she's since worked with renowned lofts including North Sails and Lucas Sails. Sarah's passion for innovation and attention to detail have led her to create bespoke sails and covers for a variety of vessels. From traditional sailmaking techniques to modern technologies, Sarah's expertise ensures the highest quality and performance.
Workshop 1: Morning session (10.30am - 12.30pm)
Age: 8-12 years old (maximum 8 participants)
Objective: Create a small open-top bag using open-weave cloth and take it home.
Activities:
Learn about the history of the cloth.
Explore the importance of recycling and reusing materials.
Discover sustainable materials.
Develop basic sewing skills, including running stitch, plus two knots, and applying fabric scraps.
Note: a responsible adult must accompany the child participant for the duration of this workshop.
Workshop 2: Afternoon session (2.30pm - 4.30pm)
Age: 12-16 years old (maximum 8 participants)
Objective: Create a small-medium open-top bag using open-weave cloth and take it home.
Activities:
Learn about the history of the cloth.
Explore the importance of recycling and reusing materials.
Discover sustainable practices through a comparison of burnt cloth and plastic.
Develop advanced sewing skills, including running stitch, stich and buttonhole, splicing of rope, and four knots.
Note: a responsible adult must accompany the child participant for the duration of this workshop.

Brought to life by Lloyd's Register Foundation, SHE_SEES highlights 23 professional women working in UK maritime today. Striking portraits capture each woman in her unique element, offering a personal glimpse into their stories and careers.

Entry is free with a 'Historic Quarter Pass' (available at the Visitor Centre). This pass grants access to the Dockyard site, excluding ticketed attractions.
SHE_SEES is open daily from 10am to 4:30pm in Boathouse 4.
