Take in some live music in Portsmouth on your next visit. The city’s music venues have gone down in local legend, welcoming some huge names along the way.
Did you know, for example, that Pink Floyd gave their seminal album Dark Side of the Moon its full live debut right here – at the Portsmouth Guildhall? The venue has welcomed a whole host of huge acts since then, including Led Zeppelin, The Cure, U2, New Order, The Ramones, Take That, The Prodigy, Iron Maiden, McFly, Mumford & Sons, Girls Aloud, and Manic Street Preachers.
There's also the truly iconic Wedgewood Rooms. A starting point for many great acts, ‘The Wedge’ has played host to a number of bands that have since gone stratospheric. Some lucky punters got to see Oasis, Kasabian, Pulp and The Killers here, on their way to superstardom. Get yourself a ticket to an upcoming show and you never know – that act you saw with a few hundred others could be headlining Glastonbury one day!
