About
Join Making Waves Film Festival for an Iranian cinematic dining event that combines cinema, cuisine, and culture with a truly immersive experience.
From inside a beautifully designed garden space you can enjoy a screening of the award-winning Iranian film 'My Favourite Cake' while savouring an authentic menu prepared by fantastic Iranian cooks from Portsmouth City of Sanctuary's Kitchen of Hope - supported by professional chefs Soraya Hatami and Damon Hall from Taarof, in Worthing.
My Favourite Cake tells the charming story of seventy-year-old Mahin, solitary until now, who chooses to revive her love life. Award winning, it is a beautiful, moving film about ageing and loneliness, with an incredible cast and a truly unique story at its heart.
Alongside the film, visitors will experience the magic of the festival of Nowruz with a traditional table setting, symbolizing the Persian New Year, and a live performance by a terrific Iranian band.
With immersive decor, authentic music, and an inspiring film, the evening promises to be an unforgettable celebration of Iranian culture.
The event is a fundraiser for Portsmouth City of Sanctuary, aiming to foster community and raise awareness for refugee inclusion.
