Get crafty

Youngsters looking for craft activities will be spoilt for choice, with some of Portsmouth's top museums putting on free things to do for those with a valid entry ticket.

At The Mary Rose why not try out Tudor Calligraphy, learning not only how to craft beautiful letters but also discovering more about the quills and ink pots found when the ship was recovered.

Meanwhile, at The D-Day Story there's the chance to create a parachute or try out Airfix building. The Big Drop shows youngsters the important role that parachutists played in D-Day, including the so-called 'Rupert' paradummies used to fool the enemy. Participants will learn all about parachuting, see the museum's very own Rupert, and make a mini-parachute of their own.

Then at the Airfix Extravaganza visitors to The D-Day Story can build a model and either paint it at the museum or take it home to work on later. Please note, this event carries an additional charge of £2 per model.

Meet some furry friends

There will be appearances from a host of furry friends across half term. The one and only Paddington Bear heads to Spinnaker Tower for appearances and photographs on 16 and 17 February. What's more, all children booked in to the Tower can also enjoy colouring activities, a trail and a free hot chocolate.

There will be animals that typically come from closer to home up at Fort Nelson when it hosts Farm at the Fort. A mobile petting zoo will roll into the historic site from 12 to 17 February, featuring pigs, sheep, goats, chickens, turkeys, ducks, rabbits, guinea pigs and a donkey.

Take in a show

Why not make it a night to remember with a show at one of the city's famed venues? Portsmouth Guildhall hosts BGT champions Diversity - the enduringly popular dance troupe who head into the city with their latest extravaganza, Supernova. The group's largest tour to date offers dazzling dance displays and stunning storytelling.

Alternatively there's action of a different kind at the Groundlings Theatre with the arrival of Kapow Wrestling. The 'Attitude' show will feature solo and tag-team action - not to mention an appearance from WWE star Gangrel, aka 'The Vampire Warrior'.
