About
Overlooking the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles' Sunset Strip, Laurel Canyon hosted a community of musicians through the 1960's and 70's, forming a hive of creativity in the age of hippies and flower power. Among Laurel Canyon's residents were the likes of Neil Young, James Taylor, The Byrds, The Mamas & The Papas, Eagles, The Doors and Joni Mitchell.
Now, a tribute show aims to honour these musical greats, with a special feature on one woman in particular - the incomparable Carole King.
Performed by a live 6-piece band with vocals, this concert will - in its first half - feature music from Laurel Canyon luminaries, from the list above and others.
The second half will feature Carole King's 1971 masterpiece Tapestry performed in its entirety. Of all the albums released at this time in the Laurel Canyon community, Tapestry, arguably, sums up this counterculture best. It is a statement of togetherness, love in all its forms, feminism, and endless hope for the future.
