As part of the ceremony the new Lord Mayor will be granted the Keys to the City and presented with the Portsmouth Sword - a symbol of the interdependence between the city and the Royal Navy. It's also the chance to honour people making a real change to the city, with a series of Civic Awards that recognise those people who have improved the local community.

Civic Awards are presented by the Lord Mayor to local residents who have made a large contribution to the city.

Tickets will be available from Central Library, Cosham Library and Guildhall Box Office from 10 April. Alternatively, register to attend via the Portsmouth City Council website.
