About
The Peter Ashley Activity Centres (based on the south coast, just north of Portsmouth) is a registered charity providing and enabling a wide range of sports and activities for children and adults. The centre is based on top of Portsdown Hill, in one of the Napoleonic forts that surrounds Portsmouth, and classed as a scheduled monument. Its purpose is to provide high quality outdoor experiences to make life better for everyone - and in particular for the young people of Portsmouth and the surrounding areas, just as Peter Ashley first envisioned.
Regardless of your age, ability or fitness, there is certain to be a lesson to suit you - whether you are 5 or 85. Fort Widley offers one-hour group lessons divided up into ability at various times over the week, along with adult-only sessions. Each and every rider is matched to one of the centre's well-behaved school horses, and will be instructed by one of the BHS-qualified instructors. Group lessons will be tailored to the group’s ability, with aims and goals for each rider.
If group lessons are not for you, there's the option of half hour private lessons, each tailored to meet your short-term targets and long-term goals. The centre will try to match each rider with an instructor to aid progression.
Alongside the private lessons there's also half hour semi-private lessons. So if you are two friends wanting to ride, book a semi-private lesson – as these would be perfect for you. These, as with the private lessons, are tailored to individual’s needs.
For more information about Fort Widley Horse Riding Lessons at the Peter Ashley Activity Centres call Fort Widley on 023 9232 4553 for details.
The centre also boasts a successful Pony Club and Saddle Club - visit the website or call the centre for more details. It also runs Own a Pony days every half term and summer holidays, along with Walk Outs, Meet the Horses, School Hire and Stable Management courses - plus much more outdoor fun for the whole family!
Visit the website to find a package that suits you, or feel free to phone and tell the team exactly what you are looking for. They can always tailor a package to your needs.
