About
The natural world should be reawakening, let's check!
Being at the Equinox means the days will be longer than the nights. Join the Friends of Portsdown Hill on a guided walk to look for the tantalising return of flowers, the boisterous calls of territorial birds and the precocious buzz of bees. Or as Christina Rossetti (1830 - 1894) puts it;
"There is no time like Spring,
When life's alive in everything".
Meet at the East Gate of Fort Widley (Portsdown Hill Road, PO6 3LS) for this guided walk, taking place on Friday 21 March from 10am to 12.30pm. Participation is free.
Be prepared to weather the weather, with walking shoes and anoraks. Please note the walk is not accessible to buggies. There is limited parking at Fort Widley, and more space is available at the viewpoint across the road. The walk will be led by Countryside Officer Richard Jones whose encyclopaedic knowledge of Portsdown Hill can usually identify most wildlife.
