Bequeathed to the city of Portsmouth by Richard Lancelyn Green, The Conan Doyle Collection brings together an unparalleled variety of books, documents and objects connected to Sherlock Holmes and the life of his creator. The Collection contains approximately 40,000 archives including letters, family photographs, dramatisations, Sherlock Holmes memorabilia and much, much more. This is the largest public collection of Doyle material in World (as far as we know!).
With magnifying glasses at the ready, we welcome you to conduct your own investigation of the famous writer, his works, life and legacy, including the Portsmouth-born, world-famous detective, Sherlock Holmes.
