Once upon a time, it was a beautiful sunny day on the coast. Sherlock was enjoying the weather and walking along the beach with his friend Molly Hooper.
Suddenly Eugenia Ronder rushed up with Inspector Lestrade. “Help me.” she said, “Someone has stolen my family jewellery and gemstones.” Inspector Lestrade informed Sherlock that a boat had also gone missing.
Sherlock and Molly went to where the boat should have been moored and started to search around. They found some bird footprints going down the beach and disappearing into the sea. “Its not a seagull’s print.” said Molly “It’s the print of a goose foot!” Next to the footprint was an earring and some scraps of bread. The earring belonged to Eugenia Ronder.
“Did the goose have my jewellery!” Eugenia said. “How did it manage that?” Sherlock thought deeply as puffed on his pipe whilst pacing backwards and forwards.
Suddenly he shouted “I’ve got it! Quickly! We need to go to the next village port from here.” Everyone got into Lestrade’s horse and carriage and they rushed off to the port.
Sherlock explained- “I believe that someone has been training the goose to steal in exchange for food and I bet I know who it was!” Molly asked “Who is it and how do you know?”
Sherlock went on to explain that he always kept an eye on what his arch nemesis Professor Moriarty was up to. Recently Moriarty had goose feathers stuck to his jacket. Sherlock had also followed him to the public library and noticed that he had withdrawn a book called “How to train your goose.” Hence, Sherlock concluded that Moriarty had trained a goose to steal jewels. Furthermore, Sherlock also observed that Moriarty had been visiting his portside holiday cabin more frequently. This was particularly unusual as this summer’s weather has not been very good. Sherlock was convinced that he was using the cabin to store stolen goods.
Everyone arrived at the port in time to see a small boat coming into dock. Sherlock’s arch enemy Professor Moriarty was aboard and so was the goose! Inspector Lestrade arrested him and returned the jewels to Eugenia.
Moriarty was sent to jail, but the goose looked sad, as he was then all alone. Eugenia took pity on the goose and took him home. She fed him good food every day and his days of crime were no more!
