The Detectives researched the dramatization section of the Conan Doyle Collection and interviewed and selected Daniel Hill to support them in their production of this performance:
The Detectives Present Sherlock Holmes and the Hunt for Conan Doyle
Moriarty has constructed a plot to track down and destroy Sherlock's creator in an attempt to beat his nemesis once and for all. Can the audience help the great detective decipher the clues and discover the last know location of Arthur Conan Doyle before it’s too late? Devised by The Detectives alongside professional theatre makers, this fun, interactive theatrical experience explores Conan Doyle’s time in Portsmouth and the fictional detective that defined him.
Huge congratulations to all our Detectives for their brilliant performance!
The audience were met with a locked door and their personal guide - Richard Lancelyn Green. Once they solved the first puzzle of getting in, the Baker Street Players performed a number of scenes relating to the life of Arthur Conan Doyle, which revealed clues to unravel the mystery. When all had been discovered we learnt that a great deception had occurred - and our trusty guide was in fact the double crosser, James Moriarty! He was planning to do away with Doyle, to end Sherlock once and for all. As usual, Sherlock was one step ahead, and left the audience with these words:
"If you are reading this letter then you have, along with you compatriots, solved Moriarty's puzzle. Well done! Truly you are a most skilled detective. Thank you once again for your assistance in my last case. It certainly was one of my more unusual tasks! I wanted to reassure you that your efforts were not in vain - Arthur Conan Doyle is safe!"
Again, a round of applause for our Detectives and their brilliant work.
Performances lasted approximately 30 minutes and took place at 4pm and 5pm on Thursday 25th August at Groundlings theatre. Watch it on our youtube channel or below.
