You are here: You Don't Know Sherlock Holmes, Yet... > Posters > The Speckled Band
This poster promotes a production of 'The Speckled Band' which played at the Hippodrome Theatre in Richmond in December 1912 for five nights. The company included Maud Gill, as Edith Stoner, and C W Somerset as Dr Grimsby Rylott.
The play, adapted by Conan Doyle from his own short story, with additional characters and scenes, was originally called 'The Stonor Case'. The play has a successful run at the Adelphi Theatre, in 1910, before a tour of England and America. The Speckled Band was the type of snake used as the murder weapon.
