Over the two year project, the Detectives have co produced two exhibitions in 2022 and 2023. The first exhibition comprised of workshops delivered to Detectives with artist Mandie Molyneux, who gave a huge range of different art techniques for everyone to try out. From there, everyone produced a piece of work (or more!) for the final exhibition. The exhibition 'Imaginarium of Conan Doyle' was held in Southsea Library, images below!
Workshop 1
Alongside discussions about what an exhibition is and how one could be created to showcase The Conan Doyle Collection, items from the archive were selected to use as a basis and inspiration for the artwork to be produced, by The Detectives, for the exhibition.
Workshop 2
Artist Mandie Molyneux took the group through the basic principles of creating artwork. The Detectives created images of the person opposite, using their non dominant hand. They were also introduced to drawing with charcoal.
Workshop 3
In this workshop The Detectives were introduced to the concept of mono printing.
There were several workshops after this, where Detectives created their own images based upon items in the Collection, using the mediums and methods of their choice, supported by Mandie.
Exhibition
Between Thursday 14th July until 31st August 2022 at Southsea library on Palmerston Road an exhibiton of the detectives work was held for the public to see their work.
