Paget illustration

This is a picture of Holmes and Watson by Sidney Paget from The Strand Magazine. Sidney Paget illustrated the Sherlock Holmes stories from their first publication in The Strand Magazine, in 1891, until the publication of The Final Problem in 1893. He also  illustrated The Hound of the Baskervilles, in 1901, and The Return of Sherlock Holmes, in 1903. He went on to illustrate many other stories by Arthur Conan Doyle (and others) for The Strand, including Rodney Stone, first published as a serialized novel in 1896 and later published as an illustrated novel, using Paget’s illustrations.
